Preserving post-racial America

After hearing MSNBC's Andrea Mitchell invoke the term "post-racial" last evening in a non-ironic way, I nearly hurled all over my laptop. I want nothing more than for this word to be tossed off a cliff into a river of molten lava.

But then a friend reminded me over Facebook what that might mean: banishment of "the face of post-racial America":

It's not a chance that I'm willing to take.

Also, here's a very short list of some of my favorite clips involving Tracy Morgan: 1. Pick Up the Pieces; 2. Doug Flutie; 3. NFL 2K - "Ya understand me, sweet tooth?"; 4. Cornbread; 5. NBA 2K4 - "The way I dunk on you is going to look unorthodox'd."

It's like picking your favorite kids, ya know?

Remind me to tell you all someday, my wonderful readers (all six of you), why Tracy Morgan, Mike Epps and Marlon Wayans are on my list of the 10 funniest people in the world.

I'm going to need to hear that story, because none of these cats really do it for me. Even Tracy on 30 Rock is only kinda so-so.

I'd take Larry Wilmore over any of those three.

Wow. blackink - I thought you were cool. I liked Tracy in Martin. He hasn't rocked my belly to laugh since then. Marlon Wayans is a Special Kind of Fool, but I wouldn't put him on my top 10 list either. And Mike Epps...seriously?

But that's right, it's YOUR top 10 list so...let me be quiet. lol

Ok. I know the Marlon and Mike are unpopular with this crowd.

Ok. Almost any crowd.

But you all see the "Cornbread" link?

And Larry Wilmore is a Grade A comedian. He definitely goes above that trio. But I don't know enough about his work outside of "The Daily Show." I need to catch his stand-up or read one of his books or something.

BI (does anyone ever address you by your surname a la "Smith" from The Matrix?), you should get the audio book of "Things I've Learned From Women Who've Dumped Me." Wilmore's essay is funny. There are a few others that are also chuckle-worthy.

I find Tracy Morgan very funny, aside from his mother I'm probably the only person who was sad when his NBC show was cancelled.
