ESPN’s Chris Mortensen is reporting that Michael Vick has signed a two-year deal with the Philadelphia Eagles.
I can dig that.
Frankly, there’s not much of a downside: the Eagles get another playmaker; Philly is the right city with the right fanbase to welcome Vick back into the League; and the Eagles have no immediate need to thrust Vick into the lineup.
And if McNabb gets hurt – and he usually does – then you’ve got Vick coming off the sideline to handle things.
Also, let’s be real: if there’s a franchise whose fans might run a dog-fighting ring as part of the tailgating experience, it’s probably Philly. And then Oakland.
In case folks don’t what Vick used to do before he went into the clink, here’s his resume:

I jst hope that fans don't throw doggy biscuits on the field. Guy deserves a second chance.
If that's as bad as it gets, then it'll be alright.
But as my PB blogmate G.D. noted, most fans over the age of 30 in Philly hated Iverson.
And Iverson gave his heart and soul for that team and that city.
Ugh. I dunno.
Just waiting to see what Vick still has in his tank. Should be well rested and injury free. Might have extended career even further by being out for a while.
Im curious to see what andy reid is going to do with vick. Good since kolbs been hurt and when mcnabb inevitably gets hurt this seawson, vick should be an incredible replacement. 1.6mill is a lot of money.
@Max: Yeah, that's kind of the wildcard in all this. Generally, the first thing to go on any athlete is his legs. And since so much of Vick's game was dependent on his legs, you wonder if he has anything left.
Two years away from the game might have left him fresh, true. But it might have left him stale.
@NFL: Yeah. I think a lot is made of this Wildcat stuff, but really, that's not a reason to save a roster spot for Michael Vick. I think Reid is going to use him under center, assuming Vick still has some gas in the tank.
Whether that cuts into D Mac's snaps, who really knows? But I don't have any problems with the Iggles taking the risk.
