Deep thought

The steroids "controversy" has given me yet another reason to ignore baseball season.

I am beyond tired of major league baseball. But, they brought this on themselves. I remember saying a long time ago that the witch hunt against Barry Bonds would blow up in their faces and here we are...

Yeah, you can give up on baseball, but what other sport can ya go to that hasn't been tainted by such controversies? Women's curling, maybe? Wait. Never mind. I don't want to know that women's curling has had competitors who used PEDs, so I better just drop it.

I actually think most sports would be better if they just stopped testing for PEDs. This is getting to be silly, and it's making me watch less and less of ESPN.

Nothing's ever gonna stop me from telling my kid(s) that Barry Bonds was the best baseball player of my lifetime.

To build on this thought a little more, I love football. I can watch a pee-wee game, a CFL game or a random NCAA Division II pairing and be in utter bliss.

But I'm under no delusions that football is free of PEDs. In fact, I find it hard to believe that a sizable majority of NFL players aren't on something stronger than Ripped Fuel. I honestly can't believe there's humans out there who naturally weigh 300 pounds, run a 4.7 in the 40 and can bench press a large piano.

Nor do I really care. I enjoy the actual game - sports is a distraction, an escape. Nothing serious in on the line here.

So I can deal.
